Microbus rescued after falling into Padma river

Online Report : A passenger-laden microbus fell into the river on Tuesday after the wire of a pontoon at Paturia ghat 5 in Rajbari was torn by nor`wester.

Goalundo ghat police OC Abdullah Al Tayeeb said fire service divers are conducting the rescue operation.

Daulatdia River Police outpost in-charge inspector Abdul Monnaf said a Dhaka-bound microbus, was boarding on an utility ferry Madhabilata ferry around 11:15am.

But, the wire of the pontoon tore apart and it went into the river as a nor`westar suddenly pounded the ghat.

Officials of the local administration, BIWTC,BIWTA, local police and river police are on the spot.
