Mitu murder: Husband Babul Akter held after grilling

Staff Reporter : Police Bureau of Investigation has shown arrested former superintendent of police Babul Akter after interrogation in a case filed over the murder of his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

He was questioned at PBI Chattogram city office and then shown arrested, a reliable source in the office confirmed the matter to Tuesday.

Earlier on January 30, a report on the latest progress into the sensational case probe was submitted to the High Court complying with an HC order of December 2 last year that asked the investigation officer to submit the report within January 31.

On June 5, 2016, former SP Babul Akter`s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was shot and stabbed to death on the way to take her son to school at O R Nizam road in Chattogram city.

Later, Babul Akter lodged a case with Panchlaish Police Station in this connection.

The law enforcers made several arrests in the lawsuit.
