  Date : 28-03-2024

Staff Reporter : A court in Chattogram has placed former superintendent of police Babul Akter on a 5-day remand in a case filed over the murder of his wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Sarwar Jahan passed the order after investigation officer of the case produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Earlier in the day, Mitu’s father Mosharraf Hossen filed the case with Panchlaish Police Station against Babul and seven others.

However, Banaj Kumar Majumder, deputy inspector general of the PBI, said at a press conference that they have found Babul’s involvement in the murder of his wife Mitu.

Mitu was shot and stabbed on the way to pick up her son from a school bus on OR Nizam Road in Chattogram on 5 June 2016. Babul was in Dhaka at that time, and he later filed a murder case with the Panchlaish police station.
