Lockdown to be extended till May 23

Staff Reporter : The ongoing lockdown will be extended till May 23 from May 16 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

A gazette notification will be issued in this regard on May 16.

Forhad Hossen, State Minister for Public Administration, confirmed the matter to Thursday.

The ongoing lockdown started from April 14 for eight days. Later, it was extended until 16 May in phases.

To be noted, Bangladesh reported 31 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 12,076.

Besides, 1,290 new cases were detected over the same period, raising the total number of infections to 7,78,687 across the country so far.
