Sheikh Hasina is creator of Bangladesh’s new history: Quader
  Date : 24-04-2024

Online Desk : Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has become the creator of the new history of Bangladesh and the pathfinder of development.

He made the remark while speaking at a discussion through videoconferencing from his official residence here.

Dhaka North City unit of Awami League arranged the meeting at the party’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office this morning, marking the homecoming day of AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said once Sheikh Hasina returned home, people started seeing dreams.

“That is why our new generation has come to know about the liberation war and Bangabandhu (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman). Sheikh Hasina has been relentlessly fighting to bring back the trend of liberation war in Bangladesh from the communal trend,” he said.

Bangladesh is now a wonder before the world today due to the visionary and bold leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the AL general secretary said, recalling that Bangladesh is a role model of development today.

Highlighting the context of Sheikh Hasina’s home return, he said like his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina is a rare political leader who moves forward without any fear amid any disaster or crisis.

Quader said ignoring the threats of military ruler, Sheikh Hasina returned home on May 17 in 1981.

“On that day, processions were brought out on almost all city streets. Dhaka city was shaken by these processions…immediate after her home return, she visited all over the country to free the besieged democracy,” he said.

The AL general secretary said Sheikh Hasina made the quarrelsome Awami League united and she continued her fight uncompromisingly to unchain democracy.

Focusing on Sheikh Hasina’s life of struggle, he said the AL President passed a long way in the last four decades. “Standing in the procession of death, she sang the triumph of life. Standing on the rubble, she repeatedly flew the flags of creation,” he added.

Quader said after 1975, Sheikh Hasina is the name of the most honest politician of Bangladesh and she is the most courageous and humane leader.

“Sheikh Hasina is also the most popular leader in post-75 politics,” he said.

The AL general secretary said Sheikh Hasina has turned Bangladesh into a country of food surplus from a food deficit one. “She is taking Bangladesh on the highway of development towards Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla,” he said.

Coming down heavily on BNP, he said it is sad to hear the statements of BNP secretary general Mira Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s illness.

“Sheikh Hasina suspended Begum Khaleda Zia’s jail sentence on humanitarian ground. But you did not appreciate this humanity,” Quader said.

Chaired by Dhaka North City AL president Sadek Khan, the meeting was addressed, among others, by AL presidium member advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, its joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, organising secretary Mirza Azam, science and technology affairs secretary Abdus Sabur and general secretary of Dhaka North City AL SM Mannan.
