Jafrul Islam: As soon as you hear the name RajshahiUniversity, the image of a huge 753 acre campus surrounded by greenery comes to mind. RajshahiUniversity is the second largest university in the country in terms of size. The campus is crowded with students walking in the morning and evening. The courtyard of the university is busy with the open walks of 36,000 students. The university has survived the dreams of this huge number of students. In the evening, hang out with friends in the small courtyard. This tuk-tuk is the scattering of tea cups muffled by the sound of the guitar tingling. There is also a residential hall for accommodation. Where the talented students of the country are always dreaming. Because of Corona, these images are imaginative today. Of these, 7 July 2021 is the 8th birthday of RajshahiUniversity. I can`t celebrate with much enthusiasm but not without talking about this university on the occasion of my birthday. Because this university has some history and tradition of its own. So let`s discuss a little bit. The year 1947 was when the country was divided with Bangladesh and Pakistan. Then the movement for the establishment of the university began on the recommendation of the Sadler Commission. Because at that time there was no university in North Bengal which resulted in backwardness in education

People in the area, a commission of 64 members was formed on 15 November 1950 with eminent persons of Rajshahi. On 31 March 1953, the law establishing RajshahiUniversity was passed in the provincial legislature. Exactly the same year, on July 8, the former principal of RajshahiCollege. The official activities started with the appointment of Israt Hossain Zuberi as the Vice Chancellor. Initially, the activities of this university were conducted on the ground floor of a silk factory known as Barakuthi on the banks of the Padma. It was shifted to present day Motihar in 1971. History. After its establishment, the university has moved forward at a relentless pace in the field of education. There are important movements in the country which have made an impeccable contribution. The former proctor of the university in the mass movement of 69. History has shown that the place is known as the university`s stronghold because thousands of people were killed and kept in piles during the war. Hasan Azizul Haque is also a teacher of this university. Apart from these, there are 16 halls for students in RajshahiUniversity. Of which 11 are for boys and 6 for girls. Also international standard dormitory. There is Sukhranjan Samaddar TSC for practicing culture. Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium. Sabas Bangla sculpture stands as an artistic talent of artist Nitun Kund. The Central Shaheed Minar and the Central Jame Mosque modeled on the Mughal period. There is a huge stadium for sports. There is also Paris Road, also known as Beauty, which fascinates everyone. In the 8 years of its establishment, RU has not been able to ensure 100% accommodation for students. Eighty-five percent of the students at this institution are located off campus. Also more plagued country than the current one. One of the educational institutions in the country could not start vaccination activities there. Where other universities have started long ago. So happy birthday to the residents of this huge campus, start the vaccination activities quickly and make arrangements to open the campus. So that our favorite campus became famous for the 36,000 students who took to the streets. The expectation of this huge population is that the activity of the meritorious should start again.
