‘BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists active anti-government activities in UK’

S. A Shofiee, Sylhet: BNP-Jamaat Shibir Leaders and activists in the United Kingdom are continuing various anti-government activities. Specially in the run-up to the Sylhet-3 by-elections and the forthcoming Union Parishad elections, they are carrying out various scandals in meetings, seminars and social media to confuse the Election Commission and the general public.

While these leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP were in the country, they were active in various programs against the Awami League government. There are also allegations that they were harshly critical and opposed to the government`s development work. These leaders and activists are accused of blocking roads and setting fires in the name of picketing during anti-government rallies and processions at district and upazila level.

There are also several cases filed by the police and Awami League leaders in different police stations alleging their involvement in anti-government activities. They are said to have migrated to the UK in various ways to avoid arrest after the case.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, UK BNP President MA Malek, Jamaat Europe Spokesperson Barrister Abu Bakkar Mollah and Barrister Nazrul Islam have been involved in various anti-government activities in the UK.

These leaders and activists are writing on behalf of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP on their Facebook IDs. It has been alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been writing satirical cartoons and ugly articles on various issues against the government.

According to eyewitnesses and social media sources in the UK, these Jamaat-BNP leaders and activists have been opposing the government as a routine work. They are holding regular meetings, processions and rallies in front of Westminster Parliament House in London, Altab Ali Park in East London, in front of the Commonwealth Office and various restaurants in East London on any anti-government issue.

Save Bangladesh, Citizen Movement, Workers Alliance, Justice for Victims, Universal Voice for Human Rights, Safe Bangladesh Want UK, Peace for Bangladesh, Stand for Bangladesh, National Unity Front, Voice for Bangladesh, Online Activities Forum, Public Forum, Shibir, They are seen carrying out these programs under various banners including BNP and Juba Dal UK.

They chanted anti-government slogans and made speeches in these programs. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and war criminal Jamaat leader Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee have been holding banners, festoons and pictures of imprisoned Jamaat leaders demanding their release.

Besides, these Jamaat-BNP leaders and activists threw rotten eggs at their cars and displayed their shoes when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, others ministers and important people in charge of the Election Commission visited the UK.

Dr. Shamsuddin Ahmed, Muslim Khan, Karim Mia, Ahmed Ali, Zahirul Islam, Ishtiaq Hossain, Ashikur Rahman Ashiq, Burhan Uddin Chowdhury, Shamimul Haque, Manikuzzaman Khandaker, Majedul Islam are some of the regular participants in these anti-government programs in the UK. Khan, Md. Belal Ahmed, Imran Ahmed, Kazi Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Abdul Bachit, Abdul Wahab, Saifur Rahman Parvez, Abul Kalam Azad, Delwar Hussain, Joynal Abedin, Abu Saleh. Yahya, Zakir Hossain Millat, Zakir Ahmed Chowdhury, Layek Ahmed, Raju Ahmed, Miftah Uddin, Shahan bin Nizam, Sahel Ahmed Hushiar and Liaquat Ali among others.

Some leaders of the Awami League in the country and in the United Kingdom expressed their displeasure. The leaders said Bangladesh, which is on the list of middle-income countries under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is now on the highway of development. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is in London, attending every program and giving reckless anti-government speeches.

Europe Jamaat spokesman Barrister Abu Bakkar Mollah and Barrister Nazrul Islam are inciting former Jamaat-Shibir leaders to jump into the anti-government movement. He demanded that strict legal action be taken against these Jamaat-BNP leaders and activists through Interpol.
