People defying lockdown guidelines in South Surma

S.A Shofiee, Sylhet, Sylhet: Defying the lockdown in Dakshin Surma of Sylhet district, people were seen coming out to the streets without masks on various excuses.  Government and private offices including markets, shopping malls and shops are closed in Dakshin Surma due to the lockdown announced by the government to prevent corona infection.

Although the fifth day of the reinforced lockdown has been strictly observed in Dakshin Surma to curb the rise in coronavirus infections, the common people were seen in the streets without masks.  Motorcycles, rickshaws and auto-rickshaws have been seen plying every street in the city since Tuesday morning.

According to mobile court sources, members of the mobile court and the army conducted drives at various areas to curb the movement of people to prevent corona infection.  According to the Deputy Commissioner`s Office, Sylhet DC M Kazi Amdadul Islam instructed the law enforcing agencies to ensure strict lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Executive magistrates are working in all the upazilas of the district as per the instructions of the DC.  The mobile court will continue to take action against those who disobey the lockdown instructions.  Dakshin Surma upazila administration will be in a tough stand till the end of the two-week lockdown.
