   Country Wide
Those who help the last farewell
  Date : 29-03-2024

MT Desk: Quantum Foundation, one of the voluntary organizations in the country, is actively involved in burying dead bodies in Corona. One and a half thousand volunteers of Quantum are working 24 hours to say goodbye regardless of religion.

A woman died on the night of July 7 in the Corona ward of Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital. Her husband kept in touch with Ward until his death. But after the death of the woman, her husband was no longer found. He didn`t even pick up the phone. After the death of his wife, the husband left her body and fled. A nurse in the Corona ward said Asma`s husband was outside the ward until his death. Her husband was called several times after his wife died. He did not come to come. At one point the husband`s phone was found turned off. The Quantum Foundation was later called in to bury Asma`s body.

The last farewell of the sacrifice, labor and talent that a person spends his whole life for his society should be honorable. We have witnessed many inhumane incidents of relatives fleeing the country at the beginning of the Corona infection last year. Recent infections and deaths are much higher than then. Now every day an average of 200 people die of coronary heart disease and more. Burial and burial of so many bodies is a big challenge. Various organizations are working to bury these bodies at risk.

Quantum Foundation, one of the voluntary organizations in the country, is actively involved in burying dead bodies in Corona. One and a half thousand volunteers of Quantum are working 24 hours to say goodbye irrespective of religion or caste. Their relentless humanitarian service activities are going on all over the country including the capital.

Quantum Foundation staff have completed 4,844 funerals since the start of Corona in 2020 until July 24. Of these, 4236 are Muslim, 548 are traditional, 24 are Buddhist and 36 are Christian. In 7 months of 2021 till 24th July this number is 1948 in Dhaka.

Khandaker Sajibul Islam, in-charge of Quantum Burial at Kakrail in the capital, said Quantum has been participating in funerals with corona or corona symptoms since the beginning of April 2020. Self-planning, self-financing and voluntary care of the volunteers is going on in the burial service. More than two hundred volunteers are involved in the quantum burial service in the capital. The number of volunteers across the country is about 1500. The list of volunteers of different ages in different professions includes different groups of women volunteers. Apart from Muslims, there are separate groups for followers of other religions.

Quantum`s service is in compliance with hygiene and religious rituals. In addition to the hospital, the Quantum service is running in Kakrail`s own bathroom, freeing it from the virus and decorating it with the final decorations. Khandaker Sajibul Islam said that despite the increase in the death toll, this year`s picture is not as inhumane as last year`s. Last year, not coming to the funeral or burial of relatives, leaving the body and fleeing was a daily occurrence. This year, many of his relatives are staying by his side. Taking part in the janaza. They are taking responsibility for the burial themselves. He said that even in the lockdown, the workers are rushing to the hospital, home, graveyard or crematorium as soon as they get the call. Our service activities are going on with the donations of the members and well wishers. Anyone can participate financially in this humanitarian service program of Quantum.

Mohammad Hanjala, manager of Al-Markazul Islami`s Kavid-19 team, which is the most publicized at the corona burial, said yesterday, "We are basically 17 volunteers working in two teams in Dhaka." So far, they have taken part in the burial of about 2,000 bodies. In the beginning we also took part in the funeral. Now only the corpse bathing activities are going on. Till yesterday we have bathed 5481 bodies. "We are only working in Dhaka," he said. However, at the end of last year, with the help of UNDP, I conducted training activities in 7 cities and 3 districts. Some volunteers have been made there. They are acting like themselves.

The Al Rashid Foundation has a team of trained volunteers to bury the body in Corona. M Shahadat Hossain Taslim, its founding chairman and president of the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAB), said, "Our volunteers are ready 24 hours a day to bury the body in Corona." There is a team of 30 trained scholars and volunteers including three women. So far they have buried about 300 bodies. Besides, various organizations and individuals at national and local level are active in burying dead bodies in Corona. The companies have been working since April 1 last year. The World Health Organization and the government are burying the bodies in safety.
