M. Ayub, Jessore: The license of a C&F agent has been revoked for evading revenue at Benapole land port in Jessore. The name of the canceled C&F agent is Royal Enterprise. The Benapole customs authorities revoked the license on Tuesday. The license was revoked after it was proved that 39 trucks of grapes, tomatoes and pomegranates had been taken out with false declarations.
According to a customs official, last Saturday, 39 trucks of grapes, tomatoes and pomegranates were shipped from India on a holiday in an attempt to evade revenue of around Rs 1 crore. The goods were unloaded by a C&F agent named Royal Enterprise. Sources said the company took the consignment out of the port`s transshipment yard without informing the customs officials. After the incident came to light, Benapole Customs Commissioner Azizur Rahman directed to collect the evaded revenue. The Royal Enterprise was forced to deposit the evaded revenue in the government treasury on Monday morning.
According to the source, there are allegations against the Royal Enterprise, which unloads the goods by evading revenue by making false declarations every Saturday holiday.
Rafiqul Islam Royal, owner of Royal Enterprise, has admitted to revoking his C&F agent license. He said revenue for 39 truckloads of goods was paid the next day.
Dr Neyamul Islam, additional commissioner of Benapole Custom House and chairman of the licensing authority, said the Royal Enterprise`s license had been revoked for allegedly unloading 39 trucks of goods from the port. They are being investigated. Zero tolerance policy has been adopted on revenue evasion. No one will be exempted in any way.
