Tarash Correspondent: Thousands of people from Hamkuria village of Magura Binod Union in Tarash of Sirajganj are traveling at risk with bamboo bridges due to lack of a bridge. Their suffering is not only during the floods, but also during the dry season. Because the flood water in the canal remains throughout the year.
Golam Kibria Ujjal, a resident of Hamkuria village and an inspector at Dobila Islampur Degree College, said they had problems traveling from birth. At one time we had to go by boat from Wabda Dam to Hamkuria village. Later, the construction of Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway reduced the distance of communication crisis. Then bamboo bridges were made at the initiative of the villagers.
Lecturer Atiqul Islam Bulbul, chairman of Magura Binod Union Parishad, said more than 5,000 people live in Hamkuria village. A bridge is very necessary for them.
On the spot, it was seen on Monday that people were traveling at risk with the bamboo bridge of Katakhali canal. There are no railings on either side of the bridge. The children are crossing the bridge holding the adults in fear.
In this context, the upazila engineer said. Abu Sayed said necessary steps would be taken to build a bridge over the Katikhali canal.
