Faysal Azam Apu, Chapainawabganj: A patient named Sufia Begum has died due to negligence of a doctor at Sadia Clinic and Diagnostic Center in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj. The patient`s husband Shariful Islam is preparing to file a case with the police station. The patient died at the clinic on Wednesday afternoon. When the news of his death spread, the locals went in front of the clinic and protested and demanded exemplary punishment for doctor Shafiul Islam. According to the relatives of the deceased, Sufia Begum was admitted to Sadia Clinic around 8 am on Wednesday with gallstones and uterine tumors. Soon after admission, doctor Shafiul Islam started the operation. The doctor later informed the family members that the patient should be admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. By then the patient had died. The relatives claim that the patient died due to the wrong operation of the doctor. The doctor demanded exemplary punishment in this incident. Meanwhile, the local people started protesting saying that the patient had died due to the negligence of the doctor. Police later came to the spot and tried to calm the situation. Shibganj Police Station OC Farid Hossain said legal action would be taken if any complaint was lodged.
