MT Desk: The government has decided to hold Victory Day in a befitting manner this year with elaborate national programmes on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.

The decision was taken in an inter-ministerial meeting held at the liberation war affairs ministry conference room on Tuesday with its Minister AKM Mozammel Huq in the chair.
The meeting has also discussed in detail on holding different programmes throughout the country marking the day.

The victory day will be held in a solemn fervour during this year marking 50 years of independence,” according to the decision of the meeting.

Cooperation from all concerned including the mass media was sought in implementing different programmes on the occasion, it said.

Terming the golden jubilee of independence as the most important milestone for the Bangalee nation, the liberation war affairs minister said “All concerned should keep vigilance so that the anti-liberation forces cannot hamper the celebration of the V-Day.”

High officials from different ministries, divisions and agencies including liberation war affairs secretary Khaja Mia, among others, attended the meeting.
