International Desk: Widespread compliments from across the Line of Control, Pakistan and abroad continued to pour in for Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam, Executive Director of Kashmir Media Service, who passed away in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Sunday night.

Hurriyat leaders from occupied Kashmir and AJK chapter expressed grief over the demise of Sheikh Tajammul-ul-Islam.

Hurriyat leaders, including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Khawaja Firdous, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Syed Salahuddin, Abdul Majeed Malik, Qazi Imran, Khalid Shabbir, Advocate Mehmood Akhtar Qureshi, Farooq Siddiqui, Young Mens League, Kashmir Bar Association and several Kashmiri civil society members, journalists and religious scholars in their statements, paid rich tributes to Shaikh Tajammul-ul Islam for his immense contributions to the Kashmir cause.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in a statement said that Shaikh Tajammul Islam was an iconic leader in the field of journalism. “With the passing of Shaikh Sahib, who was the champion of freedom of expression, we lost one of the most prominent journalists of Kashmir,” he said.

Dr Fai said that Shaikh Sahib was an institution by himself. “Sheikh Sahib never compromised on the basic principles of the Kashmir dispute. His formula was simple: The aspirations of the Kashmiri people must be ascertained under the umbrella of UN Security Council resolutions,” he added.
