HC allows Japanese mom to spend night with daughters
  Date : 24-04-2024

News Desk : The High Court (HC) today in an order allowed Japanese citizen Nakano Eriko to spend nights with her daughters Makano Jasmine Malika, 11, and Makano Laila Lina, 9, at their Gulshan flat and take them outside, reports BSS.

A HC division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after holding hearing on a plea filed by Nakano.

The court in its latest order said Nakano can stay with her daughters exclusively on the night of September 9, 11, 13 and 15, while the children would say with their father Bangladesh-born US citizen Sharif Imran tonight.

"During the daytime, the daughters would stay with their father and he would be able to take them outside for a few hours," the order added.

Meanwhile, the court also asked the chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to take necessary steps to remove the defamatory videos against Eriko Nakano. The court also asked authorities concerned to identify people behind making and uploading these videos online.

The High Court on August 31 had ordered Sharif Imran and his wife Nakano Eriko to live at a Gulshan flat together for 15 days with their two daughters.

The court came up with the order as the estranged couple failed to reach a consensus on where and with whom their two daughters Makano Jasmine Malika, 11, and Makano Laila Lina, 9, will live, in spite of repeated instructions from the court.

According to the court order, both the parents would bear the expenses of the flat jointly and they would be able to spend private time with their daughters.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services will look over the matter and the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police had been asked to ensure the safety of the family.
