Covid-19 claims 23 more lives, infects 860

Online Report : With the deaths of 23 more people in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Thursday, Bangladesh`s Covid-19 death count now stands at 27,510.

On Wednesday, the country saw 17 Covid deaths and 31 the day before yesterday.

During this timeline,860 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 15,55,911.

A total of 26,569 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

Health authorities also reported 979 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,15,941 according to data released by the government.

Among 23 deaths, 11 are male and 12 female, the press release said, adding that one was in his 20s, two were in their 30s, five in their 40s, and three in their 50s while 12 were above 60 years.

The infection rate is 3.24 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.99 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 97.43 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.77per cent.

China reported first death from the novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the capital of Central China’s Hubei province, on January 11 last year.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18 the same year.

According to Worldometer`s Covid-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 47,90,376 people globally and infected 23,41,75,561 while 21,09,80,038 made recovery as of today afternoon.
