5th phase elections to 707 UPs to be held on Jan 5

Online Desk : The 5th phase elections to 707 Union Parishads in different districts will be held on January 5 next year.

Election Commission (EC) Secretary Humayun Kabir announced the election schedule at a press briefing at the Media Centre of the EC on Saturday morning.

According to the schedule, candidates for the posts general member and reserved seats for women will be able to submit their nominations to returning officers till December 7.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on December 9 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 15.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath, NID DG A K M Humayun Kabir, Joint Secretary Farhad Ahmmed Khan and Public Relations Director S M Asaduzzman were present among others during the press briefing.
