President invites Awami League to join dialogue on Jan 17

MT Desk : President Abdul Hamid today (Sunday) has invited Awami League for dialogue over the formation of the next Election Commission at Bangabhaban on January 17.

With the AL, the president is likely to wrap up his dialogue with registered political parties on the formation of the EC.

Since the beginning of dialogue, the President has invited 32 registered political parties so far to join the dialogue.

Six political parties including BNP, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rob), which were also invited by the President, rejected the dialogue.

Sixteen political parties so far held the dialogue with Abdul Hamid.

The tenure of the incumbent EC led by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda will expire on February 14.
