Two bodies recovered in Patuakhali

Police have recovered two bodies from two different villages under Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali district.

The deceased were identified as Kumkum Akter,14, daughter of Nazrul Khan from Shoula village under kalaiya union in the upazila and Jahidul Islam, 22, from Gucchogram under Kalaiya union in the upazila. Kumkum was a 10th grade student at Purba Kalaiya Hasan Siddique Secondary School.

According to locals, Kumkum`s hanging body was found at her house on Friday afternoon.


Later, the police arrived at the house and recovered the body.

According to another deceased`s family sources, Jahidul had eaten Sehri and performed prayers early Friday morning. At around 7 AM, family members began shouting when they found Jahidul hanging by a rope tied to a jackfruit tree behind the house.

Jahidul was quickly rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Bauphal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Atilul Islam confirmed the incident and said that The bodies has been sent to Patuakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Two separate cases has been filed in this regard, added the OC.
