  Date : 20-04-2024

H K Jibon, IU: The students of Islamic University demonstrated on the campus in Kushtia on Wednesday demanding holding their honours final year incomplete examinations immediately that have remained postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Around one hundred students from different departments under 2015-16 and 16-17 academic sessions gathered in front of the university’s administrative building and formed a human chain there around 10:30am to press home their demand.

Addressing the programme, Musabbir Rahman Heaven, a final year student of applied nutrition and food technology department said, ‘We demand to the university authorities to take our honours final year examinations in a short time.’ If we fail to complete our exams within a short time we will not be able to take part in different competitive examinations.

"Although the government has already published 43th civil services circular, we wouldn`t be able to apply there," he added.

Tawhidul Islam, a student of economics department said that many private university students under 2015-16 academic session had already completed their graduation but they could not complete even studying in the public university.

They requested to the university authorities to take their exams as many public university authorities decided to hold partial exams maintaining health directives, he added.

Abdur Rauf, GK Sadik, Ashikur Rahman, Shamim Reza, Shah Faruk, Shafikul Islam and Emran, among others, spoke in the programme.

Later, the students submitted a memorandum to the university vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam to press home their demand.

They will take a decision regarding the matter after holding an academic council meeting if they do not get any direction from University Grants Commission on December 13, IU vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam said
