Kamrul Hasan: With the slogan “Together with the Truth,” the television journalists working in Manikganj have formed a 17-member executive body of the Television Reporters’ Unity (TRU).
The committee was officially formed on Saturday (November 1) at a special meeting held in the District Council Auditorium, where all members unanimously approved the new executive committee.
In the newly formed committee, BM Khorshed, Senior Staff Correspondent of Jamuna Television, was elected President, and Ashraful Alam Liton, District Correspondent of DBC News, was elected General Secretary.
Other elected members of the committee are as follows:
Vice Presidents — Mohammad Yusuf Ali (Channel 24) and Ripon Ansari (GTV);
Joint General Secretary — Manjur Rahman (Independent TV);
Assistant Secretary — Yusuf Ali (Somoy TV);
Treasurer — Abdul Alim (Desh TV);
Organizing Secretary — Maruf Hossain (Baishakhi TV);
Sports and Cultural Secretary — Hasan Foyzi (SA TV);
Office Secretary — Azizul Hakim (My TV);
Publicity Secretary — Ohidur Rahman Rana (Bangla TV).
Executive Members: Shahidul Islam Sujan (ATN Bangla), Md. Akram Hossain (Bangla Vision), Asad Zaman (Ekhon Television), Rashedur Rahman Chowdhury (Asian TV), Ahmed Piyal (Nagorik TV), and Sujan Molla (Global TV).
Advisory Panel: Golam Sarwar Shanu (Channel i), Jahangir Alam Biswas (RTV), Abul Kalam Azad (ATN News), Ahmed Sabbir Sohel (NTV), Gazi Wazed Alam (Maasranga TV), Monirul Islam Mihir (Ekattor TV), and Kabul Uddin Khan (News 24).
General Members: Zahidul Haque Chandan (Deepto TV), Arfin Ahmed Apel (Channel 9), Alamin Hossain (Ekushey TV), Sadhan Sutradhar (Mohona TV), Saiful Ahmed Sabbir (Bijoy TV), Zahirul Islam (Ananda TV), Abhi Hasan (Asian TV), Shariful Islam (Mohona TV), and Afridi Ahmed (Channel S).
President BM Khorshed said, “We will work together to ensure the rights, professional dignity, and safety of television journalists. TRU will serve as a professional bridge among all journalists.”
General Secretary Ashraful Alam Liton added, “Our primary goal is to promote cooperation among journalists in Manikganj, enhance professional skills, and ensure a constructive and positive media environment.”
Representatives from various television channels across the district attended the meeting, congratulated the newly elected committee, and expressed their commitment to maintaining unity and ethical journalism.
The Television Reporters’ Unity (TRU) aims to be a united platform for television journalists in Manikganj — working for professional development, training, fair rights, and the promotion of objective and ethical journalism through various upcoming programs and initiatives.
