  21st national long distance swimming competition-2025 held

 

BSS)- The `21st National Long Distance Swimming Competition 2025`, organized by the Bangladesh Swimming Federation and sponsored by the Bangladesh Navy, was held today in the Dhaleshwari River of Munshiganj district.

Thirty-five selected swimmers from Bangladesh participated in the competition, including 23 in the male category and 12 in the female category, said an ISPR release here.

The race started at 9:30 am from Baktavali Launch Ghat in Narayanganj district and ended at Munshiganj Launch Ghat on the Dhaleshwari River.

The male swimmers swam for about ten kilometers and the female swimmers swam for about seven kilometers.

In the male category, Md. Faisal Ahmed of Bangladesh Army won the first place, Palash Chowdhury of Bangladesh Navy won the second place, Nurul Islam of Bangladesh Army won the third place, Ashikur Rahman of Munshiganj District Sports Association won the fourth place and Md. Imran of Nikli Swimming Club won the fifth place.

In the women`s category, Sonia Akhter Tumpa of Bangladesh Navy won first place, Mukti Khatun of Bangladesh Army won second place, Rupa Khatun of Bangladesh Navy won third place, Salma Khatun of Bangladesh Army won fourth place and Sadia Khatun of Gorai Swimming Club won fifth place.

The prize distribution and closing ceremony of the competition was held at Munshiganj Launch Ghat Terminal.

President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan presented prizes to the winners as the chief guest. Crests, certificates and monetary prizes were given to the winners and participants of the competition.

Rear Admiral Abdullah-Al-Maqsoos, Commander Dhaka Naval Area, Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Chairman, BIWTA; and Fatema Tul Jannat, Deputy Commissioner, Munshiganj, among others, were present at the event.

Members of the executive committee of the Bangladesh Swimming Federation, senior officials of the Bangladesh Navy, officials of the district administration, and officials of the district sports association were also present.
