Tamim smashes ton in BCL
  Date : 01-02-2020

Bangladesh star opener Tamim Iqbal smashed a brilliant ton to put East Zone in a commanding position on the second day of their Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) opening round fixture against Central Zone at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. East Zone were yet to open their account as Day One`s play ended prematurely due to bad light. East Zone, who bundled out Central Zone for 213 on Day 1, got off to a great start today.

The opening pair of Pinak Ghosh and Tamim strung together a 62-run stand before the former was trapped in front off a Shuvagata Hom delivery in the 16th over. However, stalwart Tamim looked exquisite as he picked up his 16th first-class century. The stalwart, who smashed 20 boundaries, remains unbeaten on 141 off 170 with East Zone firmly on top at 248 for one after 57 overs. Mominul Haque, at the other end, also remains unbeaten for a 123-ball 73.
