Abu Sayem, Cox`s Bazar: Cox`s Bazar South Forest Division and Ukhia Upazila Administration conducted a joint operation in the dense forest in Chader open area of Thaingkhali Bit in the protected forest area under the leadership of Ukhia Upazila Executive Officer Imran Hossain Sajib with the support of a team of 40 to 50 people including Ukhia Thana OC Sheikh Md Ali and Upazila Range Officer Gazi Shafiul Alam. Seized, 3 dredger machines along with 2 native guns and various equipments were seized.
By doing this, about 10 acres of land has been recovered from the government property land robbers. However, none of the land robbers could be arrested.
On September 22 (Thursday) at 4 pm in the open forest of Ukhia Upazila`s Thaingkhali Bit Chader area, under the leadership of Ukhia Upazila Executive Officer Md Imran Hossain Sajib, with the help of range officers and staff, an operation was conducted on the basis of secret information and 10 acres of illegally occupied land was cleared. Ukhia Range Officer Gazi Shafiul Alam informed the matter.
He said, there will be no place for land grabbers. We will strictly resist those who are encroaching on forest department land. 10 acres of land has been recovered by carrying out raids on illegal encroachment on forest department land. During this time, 3 dredger machines, 2 domestic guns, Da, Khonta and other equipment were seized.
The Ukhia Range Officer claimed that Russell, the son of the deceased Habib member of the area, had taken over the protected forest area in Gehin forest and built it as a hideout. Russell, who was known as a bandit in the area, had taken over the reserved forest area and cut the mountains with dredger machines to extract sand and soil. Preparations to take legal action against those involved. Range officer Gazi Shafiul Alam said that it is going on.
