Three of child kidnapping gang held in Gazipur

Police in a special drive arrested three alleged members of a child kidnapping gang from Salna in Gzipur district on Friday.

The arrestees are—the alleged ringleader Milton Masud, 45, Shahinur Rahman, 38 and Sufia Begum, 48.

Mohammad Morshed Alam, deputy police commissioner of Uttara zone, at a press conference held at DMP Media and Public Relations Centre on Saturday said a general diary was filed on March 24 this year with Uttara East Police over the missing of a 6-year-old Shaheen Sheikh.

Using the teach surveillance, a team of Uttara East Police, led by ADC Md Tawhidul Islam of Uttara airport zone, conducted a drive in Salna area and arrested the three people. Police also seized two mobile phone sets and five SIM cards from their possession.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to the law enforcers that they have long been involved in kidnapping children from different schools, bazars and restaurants.

They realised ransom through using mobile financing like bKash and Nagad.

Milton was wanted in five cases while Shahinur was wanted in three cases filed with Dhaka and Gazipur Police stations.

ADC Md Tawhidul Islam said the arrestees demanded Tk 10,000 to 50, 000 as ranson according the ability of parents of the children.
