Earthquake: Over 200 RMG workers injured in Cumilla

Online Report : More than 200 garment employees were injured while trying to come out of the factory building in Cumilla`s Chauddagram during moderate earthquake jolted the country on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at Amir Shirts Ltd on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex health officer Golam Kibria said,"Several teams are working in rescue operation. The exact number of admissions is not yet clear, but it is believed to be over two hundred."

The number of wounded may rise, he added.

Meanwhile, Director of Cumilla Medical College Hospital Azizur Rahman Siddiqui said four people from Cumilla EPZ and Cumilla Women`s College have been admitted for treatment at the hospital.

A magnitude 5.6 quake jolted Dhaka and other districts at about 9:36am on Saturday which lasted for a few seconds.
