Ministry of Home Affairs took the decision at a meeting on law and order during celebration of Pahela Baishakh at its conference hall in the capital on Wednesday.
Fireworks and lanterns will remain prohibited to ensure public safety during the upcoming Pahela Baishakh.
Special security measures will be taken at important locations such as Ramna Batamul, Ramna park, Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka University, Hatirjheel, and Rabindra Sarobar. Law enforcement forces and intelligence agencies will be vigilant during these events, the ministry said.
District administrations, district police, and event organisers have asked to ensure security by coordinating arrangements for nationwide celebrations.
The meeting has taken other decisions include -- if anyone try to spread misinformation about the Bangla New Year celebration via social media platforms like Facebook will be brought under law.
The Bangla Academy will ensure necessary security measures during the Pahela Baishakh fair.
Diplomatic zones and establishments will be brought under strict surveillance.
Mobile courts and law enforcement units will be deployed to fend off any untoward incident and possible act of sabotage, including eve-teasing, during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
Playing banned instruments like vuvzela horn will be prohibited during the celebrations.
Besides, measures will be taken to prevent drug abuse during the celebrations.
