21 madrasa students injured in Faridpur lightning, 11 hospitalized

Online Desk : At least 21 students of a madrasa were injured in a lightning strike in Faridpur`s Nagarkanda upazila on Monday.

Of them, 11 students have been admitted to Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex.

The accident took place at Madinatul Uloom Madrasa, located in the upazila sadar, in the evening.

The madrasa teacher Md Hussain said the students were standing on the balcony of the madrasa building during the rain on Monday evening. Suddenly, a lightning struck in the madrasa field. Around 21 students were injured. Madrasa teachers and other students rescued the injured and took them to Nagarkanda Upazila Hospital.


10 of the injured were released after first aid. The remaining 11 were admitted to the hospital.

The Upazila Health Officer Jaydeb Kumar Sarkar confirmed it.
