Low over Bay, heavy rainfall likely over next three days
  Date : 17-09-2024

Due to the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over the next three days.

The rain is likely to increase from Monday next when the low pressure will cross the country`s coastal areas being intensified within the next few days.

However, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has said there is no possibility of river water crossing the danger levels or flood in any part of the country.

In a press release, the Met office said on Friday evening that monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

While forecasting about the rainfall, the Met office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.

Country`s maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 35.5 degree Celsius in Khulna and minimum temperature on Friday was recorded 23.8 degree Celsius in Bogura, said the Bangladesh Meterological Department (BMD).

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00am on Friday was recorded 86 millimeters (mm) at Ambagan.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
