Shahriar Kabir placed on remand over Jatrabari murder case

Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee President Shahriar Kabir was placed on two-day remand today (October 20) in connection with the murder of Rafiqul Islam in the city`s Jatrabari.

Sub-Inspector of Jatrabari police station Mahbub Alam and also the Investigation Officer of the case produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court with a prayer of seven-day remand.

After hearing both the sides, Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted two-day remand.

On July 18, Rafiqul was shot dead by police in front of Monowara Hospital under Jatrabari police station during the anti-discrimination student movement.

On September 1, Narjia Begum, wife of Rafiqul Islam, filed a murder case with Jatrabari Thana in connection with the murder.

Shahriar Kabir was arrested from his Banani residence on September 16.

Later, he was placed on seven-day remand in connection with another murder case.
