Two people were killed and six others were injured in two separate road accidents in Dhaka early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Jidan, 20, a resident of the Keraniganj area in the city, and Zakir Hossain, 44, from Barguna`s Sadar upazila.
Earlier, at around 3:30 a.m., a motorcycle collided with a pick-up van on a road by Mohakhali Flyover in Banani, injuring two motorcyclists as well as the helper and driver of the pick-up.
They were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctors declared Jidan dead.
Iftekhar Mahmud, sub-inspector of Banani Police Station, confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, at around 4:00 a.m., a covered van hit an auto-rickshaw in the Mugda Titi Para area while the auto-rickshaw, carrying several passengers, was heading to Madertek Nandi Para. All passengers in the auto-rickshaw were injured.
The injured were taken to DMCH, where Zakir Hossain, the driver of the auto-rickshaw, succumbed to his injuries.
Md Faruque, in charge of the DMCH Police Outpost, confirmed the deaths.
