RMG workers block Nabinagar-Chandra highway for due salaries

Workers of a garment factory has blocked the Nabinagar-Chandra highway, demanding their three months` due salaries.

Hundreds of vehicles on both sides of the highway has been stranded since 8 AM on Monday.


The employees of Generation Next Ltd took to the street on the Nabinagar-Chandra highway and Tangi-Ashulia Bypall areas at about 8:30 AM for their demands, causing immense suffering to commuters.

People were going to their destinations on foot as buses could not movement.

The workers alleged that they had not received their three months` salaries or overtime pay for the last three months.

Earlier, the workers also blocked the highway around 10:am on Monday, demanding the same thing, but they did not receive any assurance from the authorities.

Sarower Alam, superintendent of Industry Police-1, said, "We have come to the scene. Workers of the company have not received any payment for the last two months. Problems will be solved in no time as discussions are ongoing between the owners and the workers."
