Dengue claims 7 more lives, 837 hospitalized in 24 hours

Seven more people died of dengue while 837 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the past 24 hours till Thursday (November 28) morning.

"During the period, 72 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barisal division, 85 in Chittagong division, 221 in Dhaka division, 171 in Dhaka North city while 115 in Dhaka South, 109 in Khulna, 32 in Rajshahi, 18 in Mymensingh, four in Sylhet and 10 were admitted to different hospitals in Rangpur division," said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This year, the total number of cases rose to 90,440 while 482 deaths from dengue disease were reported during the period, the statement added.

Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue cases.
