  Date : 12-01-2025

A member of the Dhaka Bar Association has filed an attempted murder case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 91 others.

Advocate Nupur Akhter lodged the case on Sunday (January 12), at the Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman’s court in Dhaka.

The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and directed Mohammadpur Police Station to register the complaint as a First Information Report (FIR).

The list of accused includes Awami League leaders Obaidul Quader, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasanul Haq Inu, Anisul Huq, Mohammad A. Arafat, Fazle Noor Taposh, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Sheikh Helal Uddin, Nasrul Hamid Bipu, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Mainul Hosein Khan Nikhil, Harun-or-Rashid, and Biplab Kumar Sarker.

According to court sources, the incident occurred on August 4 during an anti-discrimination student protest in Mohammadpur, where the plaintiff allegedly sustained gunshot injuries to her left arm and head. She accused ruling party activists of threatening her at the hospital, preventing proper medical treatment. She later underwent surgery on December 17 to remove bullet fragments from her head at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
