Ply of trucks, covered vans on highways suspended for 7 days for Eid

The movement of trucks, covered vans and lorry on the highways will be suspended for four days from March 25 before Eid-ul-Fitr and also three days after the Eid to ensure the safe and undisrupted travel of holidaymakers.

However, the ban will not apply to transports carrying daily essentials.

A notice signed by assistant secretary Md Jasimuddin of the Roads and Highways Department confirmed this on Saturday night.

The decision was made at a meeting led by the road transport and bridges ministry and railway ministry advisor which was held on March 9.
