Two people died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, while 25 new infections were recorded during the same period, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
DGHS issued a press release in this regard on Monday (June 16).
The deceased was a woman aged between 21 and 30. She died at a government hospital in Dhaka. Another, Shafiul Islam, 75, was a resident of Jorarganj in Mirsarai upazila.
This is the sixth Covid-related death reported this year.
The total confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country now stand at 2,051,858, while the death toll has reached 29,504 since the beginning of the pandemic.
A total of 231 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The daily positivity rate stood at 10.82 percent, while the overall positivity rate is 13.05 percent. So far, 15,727,455 tests have been conducted in the country.
The current recovery rate is 98.42 percent, and the fatality rate is 1.44 percent.
Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8, 2020, and the first death on March 18 that same year. The previous Covid-related death was reported on July 26, 2024.
