Carpenter kidnapped for ransom in Phulpur

Phulpur Correspondent: Two tile masons were held hostage in Phulpur, Mymensingh, and a ransom of Tk 2 lakh was demanded. In this incident, 5 people were arrested along with the hostages in a joint operation by RAB and police on Monday night.

It is learned that in the Kharaipar area of ??Chandhara union of the upazila, two tile workers named Rezaul Karim of Khearchar area of ??Roumari upazila of Kurigram district and Sakib Mia of Thekapara area of ??Longadu upazila of Rangamati district were taken hostage and beaten in the fishing village of Mokhlesur Rahman Swapan. Later, they heard their cries on mobile phones and demanded a ransom of 2 lakh taka from their families. At the same time, a ransom of 1 lakh 10 thousand taka was collected through bKash by threatening to kill the hostages. The arrested are Mokhlesur Rahman Swapan, son of Raich Uddin of Kharaipar (Merigai) village of Chandhara union of Phulpur upazila, Mofidul Islam, Alep Hossain, Mosharraf Hossain and Babul Mia, son of Taher Uddin of Bagherkanda village.

In this regard, Phulpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Hadi said that five people were arrested in a raid at 1:30 am on Monday and they were handed over to the court on Tuesday.
