2 killed as train hits motorcycle in Thakurgaon

Online Desk : Two people were killed as a Dhaka-bound train hit their motorcycle in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon this morning.

The victims were identified as Abdus Sobhan (59), retired employee of Thakuraon Judge Court and a resident of Akcha Kazipara village in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, and Ruhul Amin (45), a staffer of the same court and a resident of Schoolerhat village under the same upazila.

Muktar Hossain, station master of Pirganj Railway Station, told that the motorcycle was crossing through an unauthorised crossing point at Jagtha village around 9:15am when Dhaka-bound Drutojan Express hit it.

Ruhul Amin and Sobhan were going to Pirganj to serve a court notice when the accident happened, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports quoting sources at Thakurgaon Judge Court.

Following the accident, train communication between Panchagarh and Dinajpur remained suspended till filing of this report at 11:20am.
