Kashmiri people not sacrificing lives for sham elections: APHC-AJK

Online Desk: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has said that the Kashmiri people are not sacrificing their lives for the so-called elections but for the right to self-determination.

APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi in an interview to Kashmir Media Service in Islamabad said Kashmiri people have sacrificed lakhs of lives for the Kashmir cause. He said these sacrifices have neither been given for the so-called elections under the Election Commission of India, nor to vote for the political parties of India or the occupied territory, but the purpose of the struggle of the Kashmiri people is the United Nations-sponsored referendum.
He said that until the Kashmiri people are given a chance to decide, all the so-called elections are fraud and deception. He said that in 1957, it was the desire of India to declare through a so-called Constituent Assembly that Jammu and Kashmir is a part of India from today. Pakistan, he added, knocked at the door of the United Nations Security Council, in response to which the UN approved Resolution No 122. It is clarified in this resolution that the decision of any such assembly, even if it is the Constituent Assembly, cannot be replaced by the referendum, he maintained.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said the plebiscite will be the same that will be held simultaneously in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and occupied Jammu and Kashmir and will be for the purpose of whether people want to stay with India or go with Pakistan. Therefore, he said, until such polls are held, all these elections are frauds which have no status.
The APHC-AJK Convener said neither the world nor the Kashmiri people will accept these elections. He said the people who vote in the elections of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are those who are not the residents. He said these are the people who are citizens of India and have been issued domicile here. These are people brought from India who will elect the Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir by voting there, he added.
The Hurriyat leader said what could be a bigger deception than this. He said Kashmiris understand this deception and fraud and they will never fall for this scam and will continue to expose the ugly face of India.
Meanwhile, Indian troops in their latest act of state terrorism martyred a youth in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the troops martyred the youth during a siege and search operation in Watergam area of the district.
The military operation was going on in the area till the last reports came in.
