Prof Maksud Helali takes charge as KUET VC

(BSS) - Prof Dr. Md. Maksud Helali, retired BUET professor and freedom fighter, formally took charge as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) this evening.

He assumed office at 6:30pm at KUET`s administrative building, confirmed Deputy Registrar Abdur Rahman.

Dr. Helali is expected to begin regular duties from tomorrow.

His appointment, approved by the President and Chancellor, was announced on July 24 through a notification from the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education under Section 10(1) of the KUET Act, 2003.

KUET had been under administrative paralysis for five months following a clash in February 2025 over demand to ban student politics on the campus. The clash left over 100 injured and the dismissal of the then Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor on April 26.
