Nepal ruling party’s central office set ablaze amid protests

Gen Z protesters on Tuesday set fire to the ruling Nepali Congress party’s central office in Sanepa, Kathmandu.

The protests erupted after 19 young demonstrators were killed during Monday’s clashes with security forces. Authorities had used force to suppress the rallies, sparking widespread outrage.

What began as street demonstrations against corruption and misgovernance has since intensified. On Tuesday morning, protesters escalated their actions, targeting the homes of political leaders and offices of major parties with stone-pelting and arson.

The situation in Kathmandu Valley and several districts remains tense as curfew orders have been imposed in various areas to contain the unrest.
