  Bay depression weakens, signal no-3 issued for ports

The deep depression that formed over coastal Odisha and adjoining areas weakened into a land depression over Odisha and parts of Chhattisgarh by 3 PM Friday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The system is expected to continue moving north-northwest and gradually lose strength, the BMD said in its latest bulletin.

However, a steep pressure gradient remains over the North Bay, likely to bring gusty or squally weather across maritime ports and adjoining coastal regions of Bangladesh.


The ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No. 3.

Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have also been instructed to stay close to shore and proceed with caution until further notice.
