Bangladesh Women`s `A` secures series win in Sri Lanka
  Date : 19-09-2024

The Bangladesh Women`s `A` team claimed a seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka `A` in the second 50-over match in Colombo Tuesday, clinching the two-match series after the first game was washed out.

Chasing a 114-run target in a rain-shortened 20-over match, opener Dilara Akter led the way with a 34-ball 47. She built a crucial 74-run partnership with Murshida Khatun (30 off 34), ensuring an easy chase despite the early run-out of Shamima Sultana. Sri Lanka `A` struck twice to dismiss Dilara and Murshida, but captain Nigar Sultana Joty closed the match with an unbeaten 21-ball 24, finishing in 18 overs.

Bangladesh fielded a full-strength squad of national team players, unlike Sri Lanka `A`, who lacked members from their recent tour of Ireland. Rabeya Khan captained the side, a change from the national lineup. The series was a key part of Bangladesh`s preparations for the upcoming Women`s T20 World Cup in the UAE this October.
