The body of six-month-old Sehrish, who went missing after a battery-operated rickshaw fell into a drain in the Kapasgola area under Chawkbazar Police Station in Chittagong city on Friday, has been recovered after 14 hours` of search.

On Saturday morning, local residents spotted the body in a floating condition in a canal near the Chaktai leather warehouse area, 4-5 km away from where she went missing, and informed the matter to Fire Service. Later, divers recovered the body around 10:10AM, said Mohammad Abdullah, deputy director of the Fire Service.

Local youth Mizan, who rescued him, told reporters, "I was standing on the bank of the Chaktai canal for my daughter. Suddenly, I looked down, at first, I thought there was a doll in the garbage. My mind was not filled. Then I saw the child`s body and stood for half an hour. My body was shaking, I got up in fear. Later, the people of the neighborhood gathered there and informed the fire Service."
