Sylhet Correspondent : Miscreants attacked and looted again at the house of the United Kingdom expatriate at Gordona Kandi village under Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet district at 1-21 AM Thursday (12 June), just after one month, the incident of attack at the house of the expatriate occurred.
Earlier, on May 12 last, the miscreants attacked the house of the same expatriate family. In this incident of attack on the house of Shibir leader Aiman Ahmed, a tense situation is prevailing in the area. His father Habibur Rahman (66) was seriously injured in the attack by the miscreants on May 12 when Taka 12 to 13 lakh were damaged, according to various news media. Family members of the victim informed, their house is being attacked and looted by miscreants repeatedly. Such repeated incidents of attacks occurred as the attackers were not arrested and brought before the rule of law. It is alleged, their family members are suffering from the threat and insecurity. Victim family members claimed, there was a loss of Taka 10 to 12 lakhs due to the incidents of attack and looting on Thursday (June 12). In these two times attacks and lootings, there was a loss of Taka 22 to 25 lakhs. Miscreants looted away many valuable things from the house. The family members of the expatriate claimed, the masked attacked were the leaders and activists of BNP. Local sources informed, Aiman Ahmed son of Habibur Rahman had been holding an important post of Islami Chhatra Shibir while he was staying in the country. Some local youngmen requesting anonymity informed the attack on his house was due to his criticism of the government on Facebook. Amily sources of the victim informed, seven to eight masked miscreants suddenly entered the house by blasting cocktails and damaged various furniture there. The footages of the CC camera showed, three masked persons brandishing sharp weapons (Chapatis) entered into a room. In a short time, they looted gold ornaments and cash money from the room and went away. While they were inside the room, four to five of their accomplices waiting outside to ensure their security. The family members of the expatriate are now helpless. A tense situation has been prevailing in the area following the incident.
