No presence of militancy in Bangladesh: Home adviser
  Date : 07-07-2025

There is no presence of militancy in Bangladesh, and no form of extremism exists in the country, said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday.

He also stated that the visas of the three individuals deported from Malaysia had expired.

The adviser made these remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (July 6).

Malaysia recently detained several militants and deported them to Bangladesh. In response to questions about claims from various agencies that there are no militants in Bangladesh, the Home Affairs Adviser said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already issued a press release confirming that no militants are present in the country.

Regarding the three individuals deported from Malaysia, their visas had primarily expired. According to the police chief, the other five individuals have not yet arrived. Efforts are underway to establish official-level contact with Malaysian authorities to investigate the matter further.

When asked about the Malaysian Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) statement that the arrested individuals were raising funds for ISIS in Bangladesh, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “I am not aware of what the IGP there has said. We received a message, but no official communication has been made at the government level.”
