A youth was killed in a crude bomb explosion during a clash between two groups at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Zahid Hossain, 20, son of the late Imran of the camp. The incident occurred around 3:45 am, when Zahid sustained serious injuries in the explosion. He was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.
Zahid’s friend, Aftab Hossain, who brought him to the hospital, said Zahid was a professional graphics designer. He had gone out with friends early in the morning when he unexpectedly got caught in the clash. Zahid sustained severe injuries from the crude bomb explosion and was initially taken to a local hospital. As his condition worsened, he was quickly transferred to DMCH, where doctors confirmed his death.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the police camp at DMCH, confirmed the death and said the body has been kept in the morgue. The incident has been reported to the relevant police station.
