A total of 92,500 personnel from the Bangladesh Army and Navy will be deployed nationwide to ensure security during the upcoming parliamentary elections.
The force will include 90,000 soldiers and 2,500 naval personnel, with one army company stationed in every upazila ahead of polling day, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The deployment plan was disclosed during a high-level election preparedness meeting chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka.
Later in the day, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, briefed journalists at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road, outlining key discussion points from the meeting.
He said authorities reviewed security measures for the critical 72-hour period before and after the election, and emphasized integrating local communities and volunteers into efforts to maintain law and order.
