Media Desk: Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar, DhakaCenter has won the BRAC Migration Media Award-2019. He won first place in the radio category for producing and producing a three-episode series of public awareness documentaries on safe immigration entitled `Dream Journey`.
What should a foreigner do to go abroad legally, various facilities, training of foreign nationals in various subjects, foreign trainees, training center instructors, expatriate welfare bank representatives, foreign returning beneficiary entrepreneurs, broker gang members` horrible stories, BMET`s , Vice President of Community Press Club of Malaysia, talk of expatriate journalist, talk of young expatriate, talk of abused female member, representative of BRAC Rehabilitation Center, representative of Bayer, talk of remittance of expatriates, talk of representative of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, representative of Coast Guard, correct recruitment Sending remittances in the right way, beneficiaries living in the country and abroad, victims, various actions to be taken to prevent human trafficking and various information about the law were presented in the three-episode fortnightly series of documentary reporting programs to create public awareness.
In recognition of investigative and objective journalism in the immigration sector, a total of 13 journalists from print and electronic media and a media organization were awarded the BRAC Migration Media Award-2019 in six categories.
(Wasim Uddin Bhuiyan of English daily New Age won the first place in the national category of newspapers. Md. Mohiuddin of Daily Prothom Alo won the second place and Arafat Ara of The Financial Express won the third place. The winners in the newspaper (regional) category were Abu Taher Mohammad of Sylhet Daily Jalalabad : Turab (first), Daily Chittagong Daily Nur Islam (second) and Daily Feni Time Md. Emdad Ullah.
In the television category, Sabina Yasmoni (Sabina Puthin) of DBC Television bagged the first place. Salauddin Ahmed (Ahmed Reza) of Jamuna TV came second and Ashikur Rahman (Shravan) of News 24 TV came third. The only winner in the radio category is Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar.
Mansura Hossain of Prothom Alo Online won the first prize in the online newspaper category. The second winner was Kamruzzaman, a freelance reporter for the Turkish-based Anadul Agency, and the third was Saddif Sohrab of the Bengali Tribune.
The award was launched this year in the Media Institutions category to recognize journalists as well as the media that have contributed to the immigration sector. The only award in the category of media organization was received by the online media Prabas Kotha)
Mr. Imran Ahmed, MP, Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, Government of the People`s Republic of Bangladesh, handed over the crests, certificates and checks to the winners as the chief guest at a function organized at BRACCenter, Mohakhali, Dhaka on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Maurizio Qian, Head of Cooperation of European Union Bangladesh, Giorgi Gigaori, Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration, Bangladesh (IOM Bangladesh) and Asif Saleh, Executive Director of BRAC, KAM Morshed, Senior Director, Advocacy, Innovation and Cooperation, KAM Morshed, Islam Hasan was present. Also present at the Migration Media Awards were Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Sheikh Mohammad Refat Ali, representatives of various non-governmental organizations and representatives of print and electronic media. He also won the BRAC Migration Media Award for Best (First) in the Wireless Category for the 2016 ‘Journey to Dream Breaking’ and ‘Swapnayatra’ in 2018. This is the third time he has won the BRAC Migration Media Award in the wireless category. He has won 14 awards at the national and international level. It has been noted that Md. Mostafizur Rahman is a member of the 24th BCS-Information Cadre.
