  BFUJ-DUJ demands immediate release of Professor Tajmeri Islam

MT Desk: The Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) have condemned the arrest of Dr Tajmeri S. Islam, a former professor at DhakaUniversity and top leader of the Bangladesh Sammilita Peshabiji Parishad.

On Friday, BFUJ President M Abdullah and Secretary General Nurul Amin Rokon and DUJ President Quader Gani Chowdhury and General Secretary Shahidul Islam said in a joint statement that Tajmeri S Islam is an elderly and famous educator. But, sending her to jail after her arrest in an old case is extremely inhumane and amounts to a violation of human rights. Through this incident, the dictatorial and fascist behavior of the government has been revealed. This proves that the government is trying to perpetuate its power by creating an atmosphere of fear.

The statement called for the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Tajmeri S Islam.
